Refrigeration Systems

As you are most likely aware, the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) calls for the delisting of certain HFC refrigerants including R-404A and R-134a. Beginning January 1, 2018, these refrigerants will no longer be permitted in remote refrigeration systems used in walk-in coolers and freezers as well as remote cabinets. Master-Bilt has redesigned our remote systems, consisting of M-Series condensing units and E-Series evaporator coils, to operate with R448A/R449A refrigerant. We chose these completely interchangeable, HFO-blended refrigerants because they can be widely used across several model types and gives us the flexibility to continue providing the broadest product line for our customers.

The SNAP design changes gave us an opportunity to evaluate the current M-Series and E-Series models and make several enhancements to better service our customers. These include:

  • Expansion of the M-Series condensing units to include models from ¼ HP all the way to 15 HP.
  • The switch to more efficient and reliable compliant scroll compressors on many models.  In fact, all low temp units are now standard with scroll compressors. Medium temp models are available in both hermetic and scroll, depending on HP rating.
  • Many popular options are now set up as standard system configurations, such as Master Controller Reverse Cycle Defrost and evaporator pre-assembly, for ease of ordering.
  • Expanded offering of evaporator coils including new low-profile models designed for easy serviceability and maximum efficiency.
